  • How to identify future leaders
    29 Nov 2010
Every meeting or every interview provides an opportunity to learn important things about the people who attend or are interviewed. If you want to have leaders in your team (actually you should do your best to have them), here are the qualities you should watch for:
    1. Can he make plans?
Effective leaders always begin with clearly defined goals and then prepare plans for achieving them. They have the courage to set a direction and then make changes as new information becomes available. They communicate with candor knowing that people perform at their best when they know what is expected. Thus, did the person who was interviewed prepare his biodata and provided all the information you requested. Did he make plans how to help your company? Or, in case of a meeting, did that person prepare an agenda? Was the agenda distributed before the meeting? Did the agenda tell you everything that you needed to know to work effectively in the meeting? If so, this serves as a positive indication of effective leadership planning.
    2. Is he efficient?
A meeting is the culminating step in a larger process. It begins by setting goals and preparing an agenda. Then the chairperson should have contacted key participants to inform them of their roles in the meeting, told everyone how to prepare for the meeting, and alerted people who may be asked to accept responsibility for action items. All of this work before the meeting assures that the meeting will progress smoothly, efficiently, and effectively. So, how is the meeting going? Is there evidence of this attention to detail?
    3. Is he logical?
Pay attention to what people say during a meeting or interview. Do their ideas contribute toward achieving the goals? If so, this shows that they’re working as part of a team to help find solutions. Do their ideas build upon what others just said? If so, this shows that they’re paying attention to the dialogue. Do their ideas demonstrate originality, creativity, and knowledge? If so, this shows they’re working hard to add value. Effective leaders possess strong analytical thinking skills.
    4. Is he helpful?
Evaluate the comments and behavior during a meeting. Are the participants working to support each other? Are people contributing to the safe environment that is essential for open creative thinking? Are people adding high-value contributions (instead of stories or jokes that distract everyone)? Note that chronic unproductive behavior betrays either fear, a lack of effective work skills, or misunderstood expectations. People who perform poorly in meetings may need constructive coaching.
    5. Has he got everything under control?
Leadership involves more than watching people talk. Thus, observe the dynamics of the meeting process. Is the chairperson leading everybody through methodical steps that take them to a result? Is the meeting being conducted in such a way that the participants feel that it is a fair process? Is the chairperson helping others perform at their best so that the group can produce an outstanding result?
Someone who excels in the above areas should be considered for leadership positions. This explains why most executives consider a person’s ability to lead meetings when selecting future leaders. People with leadership skill can really boost up the performance of your team and of course increase your income!

  • Quick & easy techniques to help you realize & fulfill your true goals in life
    26 Nov 2010
If you reagularly read the posts in our blog, then you should know by now that ‘Goal Setting’ is the secret to fulfilling any dream or desire you want in life. Sunrise Travel Club is of course the vehicle to fulfill your dreams!
It is no secret that SUPER successful people use ‘Goals’ to attain the knowledge and wealth they have today. But why doesn´t everybody succeed in acomplishing their dreams and reaching their goals?
The reason people find it too hard to achieve their goals is simple because they’ve set their Long-Term goals before setting Short-Term ones, or they just didn’t plan their goals out carefully.
Goal setting strategies are VERY important, especially for those who want to achieve Long-Term goals. Well, your in luck because today we will share with you five ‘Goal Setting’ techniques to help you realize your TRUE goals today.
Your only requirement is to keep an open mind. So, with that said, let´s start!
    1st Technique – Start with Short-Term goals:
Sometimes, people start with short-term goals unconsciously. Why unconsciously? Some of them may have considered the goals to be long-term at the time they planned them; and after achieving a goal, they realize that they are in fact, looking forward to a longer one.
Some are contented with their short-term goals, but after a while will realize that they also need to attain long-term ones. Short-term goals seem to be our starting point for our Long Term ones. They also motivate the person to plan for longer goals, which will usually take some time before achieving them in full.
2nd Technique – Make sure you really want the goal:
By this, you have to ask yourself: “Do I really want this goal and will this goal give me a better life?” Answering this ONE question will give you more passion and motivation to achieve your goal. Some people often recall their past to find out Why and How they came up with such goal.
    3rd Technique – Speak up:
What I mean by this is you shouldn’t keep your goals to yourself only. By sharing your goals with other people it’ll help you get the support you may need in order to fulfill them.
The problem that usually occurs though is some people are just too shy to tell others about their goals for reasons like they are afraid they cannot achieve them in the end, or they lack the courage to speak their minds. This is not a good habit to get into because when the time comes that you really need their support, you will have a difficult time getting it. You’ll then be left to achieve your goals all by yourself. Don’t make this mistake!
4th Technique – Write down your goals:
This strategy is critical and more advisable for those who have a long list of goals. After writing them down in as much detail, it is advisable that you review them on a daily to weekly basis because this will encourage and motivate you to achieving them, plus, this will also keep that vision of your goal alive. Here you can find a nice exercise.
5th Technique – Stay on track and never give up:
Reviewing notes will help open your mind to see if you are on the right track. While on track, you may have to face challenges that might change your personality.
A person who is overconfident might suddenly feel depressed after finding out that he is going the wrong way in achieving his goal. Thus this might lead to abandoning the goal. Never be discouraged. Facing obstacles is a test on how passionate one is to realizing his or her goals.
There you have it. Give those a try and keep a visual picture of you in your mind, everyday  fulfilling that goal you desire so much.
